Kukri Sports Ambassador Announcement

Kukri Sports, in conjunction with England Athletics, are proud to announce the launch of a new ‘Kukri Ambassador’ scheme, which aims to support the sporting development of a select number of promising young athletes. 

All athletes considered for the roles currently take part in the England Athletics Youth Talent Programme (YTP), and those chosen will be provided with a range of Kukri sportwear, which offers maximum comfort, support and the technical capabilities to help them achieve their sporting potential.

The England Athletics YTP is the first step on the talent pathway designed to meet the needs of identified, talented English athletes aged between 16 and 18 years of age and their coaches. The programme focuses on developing a dual career for the athlete by fulfilling their potential within the sport, their education and employability.

“With us hosting a home Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, 2022 is a massively exciting and inspirational year for our sport in England. Being a Kukri ambassadors is a fantastic opportunity for some of our most talented athletes on the first step on the talent pathway to be at the heart of everything we do over the next 12 months as part of our long term strategy for the sport. Hopefully the skills and knowledge they learn as ambassadors, with the support from staff at both Kukri and England Athletics, will set them up well for striving to achieve their potential as senior athletes.” Nick Ridgeon England Athletics Event Group Lead.

“We are delighted to be working alongside England Athletics, to bring on a select group of ambassadors to help support and further their athletic aspiration in their talent journey. Through the YTP programme we are working with 8 gifted athletes to support them with kit requirements, brand engagement and professional support.

The ongoing project will see Kukri support a new batch of ambassadors each year, as well as supporting the YTP programme in its entirety. We hope to build a legacy through our ambassadors and support these young people through the infancy of their athlete development.
