Meet The Team Behind Your Team – Gareth Jenkinson

Gareth is the Systems Test and Support Analyst, managing a team of 5 who are responsible for the maintenance and development of the company websites, online shops and internal systems, whilst offering general IT support across the Kukri group of businesses around the world.

What is your background?

After gaining my college qualifications I spent a few years working in the Print industry before joining Kukri Sports in 2007. On joining the business, I worked in an expanding Order Processing team.

Over the years I have been with the business I have worked in various departments including Customer Services, Purchasing and Stock Control, before finally taking up my existing role in the Systems team, as front-line support. Working in the roles I have has allowed me to gain a well-rounded, holistic view of the business, which helps me understand the challenges team members face and the best support I can offer.

What do you enjoy about working at Kukri?

Working as part of a global sportswear provider means that I get to deal with people from all around the world, and the challenges this presents is something I really enjoy. Working in the industry also means that no two days are the same and I find that variety particularly motivating.

What do you enjoy away from work?

For the last 5-6 years I’ve coached a local youth amateur Rugby League team, so a lot of my time is taken up with training sessions and match days. Away from sport I love spending time with my wife and kids, taking the dog for walks and spending time with friends.

What motivates you every day?

The opportunity to leave my little mark on the business and help push it forward and succeed.
